The story of the Enchanting Bee and her potions
“Magic is just science we haven’t studied enough to understand, and science is just magic we’ve figured out.” -The Enchanting Bee
The Enchanting Bee has always enjoyed gardening and creating potions. It wasn’t until she retired from teaching English, however, that she truly began to expand her knowledge of the medicinal (magical) properties of plants. She began cultivating her small property in downtown Vancouver, Washington into an organic food forest, a medicinal herb garden, and a native backyard habitat. As her knowledge of growing things grew, so did her attachment to the plants of the Pacific Northwest.
She had been expirementing with some new potions when her stepfather, a roofer who was still working full time at 75, suffered a concussion in a car accident that eventually led to him falling off a ladder from two stories, plinko-style through a tree. He lived, but was bruised and sore for months. While visiting, the Enchanting Bee shared an expensive CBD salve she happened to have with her. It worked well for his pain, but was more than they could afford to pay regularly, and not available everywhere.
So, the Bee set to work developing her own version of a CBD balm from her magical herbs, 99+% pure CBD isolate from Extract Labs, and other natural or organic ingredients. To everyone’s surprise, not only did her potion work, they liked it BETTER. The CBD helped, but the magical oil she’d infused with herbs from her garden increased its effectiveness. It melted away her stepfather’s pain, and she began making enough for him to keep using it. His bruises healed, but the two accidents had resulted in a residual ache in his back and neck that the potion helped alleviate.
In the meantime, other family members tried it out on their own aches: bruises, cramps, sunburns, arthritis… whatever they thought it might help. And it kept being magical! Her children started requesting it when they hurt themselves. Her mother started sharing it with her friends, mostly older folks with a variety of pains. The Bee shared it with her gardener friends for their end-of-day aches. Others started requesting it, and suddenly she realized she had a business and a product.
The Enchanting Bee did not set out to be a business bee. But, a potion like this should be shared. Her ethics have guided her business decisions: it’s been important for her to use quality, natural ingredients, sourced as locally and as free of chemicals as possible. Finding quality hemp-derived CBD isolate that is not adulterated and is tested by an independent lab was also critical. It’s also been important for her to find zero-waste options for packaging whenever possible. Sadly, quality ingredients and non-plastic materials are much more expensive than disposable junk.
However, it is also important to her that high-quality, low-waste products are not only available to those with disposable income. She’s made sure to keep her prices down so that folks like her hard-working roofer stepfather can afford the magic they deserve. You will probably notice similar products selling for quite a bit more. We’re not in this to make a fortune; we’re in this to make the world a better place. We’re in this to provide affordable, high-quality healing for anyone who needs it.
The company’s name was taken from The Enchanting Bee’s admiration for the PNW native Blue Orchard Mason Bee, a hardworking magical creature who transforms the goodness of plants into sustenance for her children.
